If you would like to improve the shape, structure, and distribution of your face, you might be thinking about getting a nose job. This is the colloquial name given to a rhinoplasty, and it is important for you to understand what goes into this procedure before it begins.
At Berardi Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, we are proud to be one of the most well-respected plastic and cosmetic surgery centers in the local area, and we would love to see if you are a candidate for a rhinoplasty as well. Take a look at some of the most common questions people ask about this procedure, and give us a call to schedule a case consultation.
What Is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is the medical term used to describe nose reshaping. At Berardi Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, it is one of our most popular cosmetic procedures, and we can provide you with a rhinoplasty to give you a more balanced look with the rest of your facial features. Because your nose is the only feature on your face that is noticeably 3D, it has a significant impact on the overall appearance of your face.
We can work with you using some of the latest technology to figure out how we can adjust the shape of your nose to give you the look you want and deserve.
Who Is a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
If you want to change the appearance of your nose, this is a decision that requires a tremendous amount of thought. That is why we encourage you to sit down with us for a case consultation to make sure we have an understanding of your goals.
Generally, this is a procedure that we only recommend for adults because children are still growing and developing. We need to wait until your face is done changing its shape before we recommend a rhinoplasty.
We will also make sure that you are making this decision on your own instead of at the behest of someone else. It is your face, and we want to make sure that you are not making this decision purely because someone else suggested you get one.
When we sit down with you, we want to make sure that your goals are realistic. While we have a tremendous amount of training, we want you to be satisfied with the results. That is why we will review your goals with you ahead of time.
What Types of Changes Can You Make Using Rhinoplasty?
Cosmetic surgery has come a long way, and there are a variety of changes that we may be able to make during a rhinoplasty. Some of the most common examples include:
- If your bridge has a lump or bump in it, we may be able to adjust it for you.
- We can also narrow or widen your nostrils.
- If the length of your nose is a bit long, we may be able to shorten it.
- If you feel like the tip of your nose looks too much like a bulb, we may be able to reduce it for you.
- If you feel like your nose is a bit crooked, we may be able to straighten it for you.
The exact technique we will use will depend on the nature of the changes you want, and that is why you should sit down with us for a consultation ahead of time.
How Long Is the Recovery Process After the Procedure?
Once we are done with the procedure, we will allow you to rest comfortably in the recovery room for a short while. Generally, you should be able to go home on the same day as the procedure. It may be a while before you can see the actual results, as there might be some bruising and swelling afterward. We will provide you with some medication that can keep you comfortable, but we also recommend some cold compresses to help with any side effects. We will also invite you back to the office for several follow-up visits after the procedure to make sure your recovery is proceeding smoothly.
We have also put together a helpful video, so feel free to listen to Dr. Berardi answer some questions himself:
